Martin RoemersThe Never-Ending War: Portraits of World War II veterans.

Edmund Wagner (Poland, 1926) fought with the Canadians. They were accidently bombed by British planes. Several people were wounded or killed. They were furious but the incident was swept under the carpet.

Paulina Svyatogorskaya (Russia, 1925) was 16 when she joined the Red Army as a nurse.

Cleem Konig (Netherlands, 1923) was a prisoner of war in Nagasaki when the atom bomb was dropped. Since the fifties he has cancer. He is happy the bomb was dropped, otherwise he wouldn’t have survived being a prisoner of war much longer.
